The Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship is the longest-running collegiate National Championship of any sport in this country.

The tournament is the brainchild of Dr. James Naismith, founder of the game of basketball; Emil Liston, athletic director at Baker University; and Frank Cramer, founder of Cramer Athletic Products. It began in 1937 with the inaugural tournament at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, MO. It was this tournament that led to the creation of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the NAIA, in 1952.

The 2010 tournament will be the 73rd edition of College Basketball’s Toughest Tournament and will be held March 17-23 at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium.
